Common issues when connecting with Instagram

You can find a resolution to the most common issues when connecting with Instagram by clicking the links below:

  1. You connected a wrong Instagram account
  2. You get a "Your activity off Meta technologies is currently turned off." error message
  3. Other issues

Issue 1 - Connected wrong Instagram account

If you connected a wrong Instagram account, such as your personal account, follow the steps here.

Issue 2 - Activity off Meta technologies currently turned off

If you are getting this error message:

{"error_type": "OAuthException", "code": 400, "error_message": "Your activity off Meta technologies is currently turned off."}

it means that a configuration in your Facebook account is preventing you from using Instagram apps.

To change that setting:

  1. Go to this page in your personal Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/off_facebook_activity
  2. Click "Manage Future Activity"

  1. Make sure “Connect future activity” is selected.

  1. Keep in mind that all page admins need to have that setting on

Issue 3 - Other issues

Notice

We are aware that some users are encountering a "400 Session Invalid" error on the Instagram website when trying to connect their apps. This issue appears to be a temporary problem on Instagram's end and while it is beyond our control, we are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as we get more information.

Some users reported success by attempting different things:

  • Restarting their computer or using a different browser or internet connection.
  • Trying to connect using the browser's incognito or private mode.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, waiting and trying again later may also work.

Some merchants reported issues when hitting the “Connect with Instagram” button directly in Instafeed. Those are usually temporary Instagram issues and trying a few times or a private/incognito browser window usually helps solve the problem.

If you are facing the same issue you can also try:

  1. Log in directly to Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/ and make sure that you use the credentials of the account that you want to connect to in Instafeed.
  2. Go back to Instafeed in a different tab in your browser and hit “Connect with Instagram” again. Instagram should no longer ask you to log in and present you with a window to accept permissions to our app “Mintt Studio.”
